New 4.56:1 gears, now speedometer is way off.

I just had 4.56:1 gears and a Detroit Truetrac locker installed. Now my speedometer reads 95-100 mph at interstate speeds. I'm running 33x12.50r/15 tires on a 93 YJ with 4.0 and AX15 5 speed.

Is there a remedy for this, or just learn to live with it? I have read a lot of posts about regearing, but I have not seen the speedometer issue mentioned in any of them.

Thanks for any help. Looking forward to insights and help.

Wow! You can tell everybody you have the only YJ that will cruise at 100 mph! I have the same problem but since I'm running 35" tires my speedo is only reading 10% too high. A new speedo gear is about $35 and very easy to change, in your case you are also adding miles to your odometer that you aren't driving so changing it would be a good idea.

Any idea what gear? What do I tell the guy at the auto parts store that I need? Can I just tell him I went from 3.07 to 4.56 and he can figure the gear?

By the way, thanks for the reply.
