I bought a 87 YJ a couple of weeks ago and have been doing some minor work on it. Main purposes for the jeep is for hunting and driving to work several days a week (5 mi one way). First of all I'm a newbie to being a jeep owner. Second, I'm a newbie to doing much more than changing the oil.
It has a 96 cyl 6 (4.0) Cherokee engine, which has made it a little challenging to find the right parts etc.
Several of the guages dont work: Temp, RPM and gas. Speedometer, battery and oil pressure appear to work fine.
Since it has a 96 engine it has an ECM module and an OBD port. It does not have any dash lights that lights up when ignition is turned on (like ck engine etc).
The main question is wherer or not the standard YJ guages should be operational (TEMP, RPM and gas). Or should I have have guages that interact with the ECM.
Sorry if these are basic question.
