Wondering about doing a small shackle lift 1" or less front and rear. 4" lift with stock shackles. Want to increase small lift but mostly flex and ride quality. Pictures and only what you have/had, not what you heard or read, please
I have 3/4" shackles in front and 1" shackles in the back to help compensate for the bigger 8.8 tubes. Ride quality is great and flex is pretty decent. I can go higher than this, but I didn't have enough blocks. This is with a 4" suspension and 1" body lift too.
The extended shackles wont increase flexibility or ride quality. Dont know where you heard that from but it wont help with either.
The ride quality will not get any better than stock springs, any lift springs are stiffer and limit the ride quality. If you want it to ride softer...buy a TJ with coils, or spend a couple grand on a coil package for your YJ.
As far as flexibility goes... lose the track bars if you havent already, disconnects on the sway bars help, as well as having the proper sized shocks to allow the axle to move.
I have a total of 8.5" of lift, and the ride quality sucks, but it flexes some, and I can clear my 35's but can still get them to rub in an extreme flex situation.
Just an FYI, I would stay 1 inch or less in shackle lift, especially in the front, due to caster changes, unless it is an "off road only" Jeep, then put all the shackle lift you want in it.
As far as you guys with the Flat ground, since one is in Michigan and one in Florida, just meet up here in Ky. and I will take you to all the Rocks and Mountains you will ever need. and some awesome trail riding. This is just a taste of it below.
