newbie needs help on Tire rubbing?!?

i was taking a tight turn today to back up and the tire was catching to something underneath, i was wondering if my tires might be the wrong ones or if the 2 and 1/2 inch lift is an issue

my tires are GoodYear wrangler rt/s
31x10.50R-15LT.

is this a common issue?

thanks

I just welded a bolt head to mine. Mine were spot welded in and really rusty. I added about 3/8" to mine.

I have 32" tires and have tons of clearance now. I did not notice any difference in turning radius at all.

Now the only thing I'd be careful with is taking turns at higher speeds. Your gravity center went up with the same wheel base. You say that you got a lift on your jeep, so I'm assuming you don't have track bars and more likely sway bar. Wrangler is not the most stable vehicle in stock built. Add to it mods you have ... You see where I'm going with it? That would be the reason for me to get proper rims quickly. You wheels are not there for show or better traction only. Its your wheel base also. Temp fix is only a temp fix. You want a permanent solution which is a set of rims with smaller backspacing.

Im not going to go out a buy new rims because of a little rub with 31's. I've had this fix for 7 yrs with stockers, no problems

I dont have a lift on y jeep, but i do plan on reducing the wheel size slightly once I get the cash to do it. The rims are 15's so its just a matter of fresh rubber. But i understand your concern, I'm a very careful driver when it comes to turning at high speeds, I learnt that the hard way when I first passed my test! The fix is good for now as I cant stand the rubbing noise, but it is only temporary.
