no spark

My 89 YJ 2.5L project has been nothing but a headache. It periodically likes to not get spark. It has a new coil, ecm, wires, plugs, cap, rotor, starter, and CPS. It still gets no spark. Although for awhile, it would get spark sometimes, but other times nothing. I cleaned the old CPS, and it actually worked for a week or 2. Started up first shot every time. But then one morning the starter quit and it hasn't started since. I put a new CPS in and still nothing. I'm tearing my hair out.I've got everything into this thing and all I want to do is junk it. IF anyone can tellme something I might be missing. Because I've done everthing I could think of.

Welcome to the jeep culture! Have you bench checked the new CPS and and new coil? I have gotten both bunk new before at one time or another. Also what is the age/ condition of the distributor? If the dist is bad it wont complete the circuit to fire at the coil...

No, I haven't. The CPS I just bought this morning. I didn't even think you could do that? The distributer is, well, stock. I haven't changed it.

Ignition coil resistance: primary - .4 to .8 ohms secondary - 2500 to 4000 ohms

To test primary, touch the ohm meter to the positive and negative terminals and compare the reading.

To test secondary, touch one lead of the ohm meter to one of the primary terminals and the other lead to the high tension terminal

On the crankshaft sensor - Ohms should be between 275 and 125 across connector pins A and B (should be marked on the harness somewhere)

What if I'm not getting power to my ECM? How would that happen? I tried arcing it just for shits and giggles and it doesn't arc. And the ignition is on. What would cause that? A relay or fuse or something?

Is the starter turning over? You mentioned that it quit but don't say if it turns over now.
Check the PDC for connections, blown fuses, see if you getting anything with key on at the CPS. It could be a bad ignition switch or connection
