It's interesting that you posted that link to the AX5 to AX15 swap.
I just found a '95 4.0/AX15 locally. The motor raps at startup, but the tranny shifts fine.
Between the two, I could have a good motor (my current 2.5 is tight) and a good tranny (my current AX5 is not so tight). I could also rebuild the 4.0 at my leisure and have it ready if needed.
I've always been a fan of parts vehicles.
