o.m.e. 3.5" + 2" shackles????

Just a quick question/need opinions.

I have a 3.5 old man emu lift on my jeep with 33's, I'm picking up a set of 35's tomorrow and I have a set 2" shackles (not installed yet). Now for the question, do you think i will run into any major driveline problems with the shackles?

Thanks,
Neil

P.s. The shackles are only going on untill i get the $$ for the fulltraction 7.5" soa

If it's a 2" lift shackle I stay away from them.
Put a set of TJ flares on and trim the fenders add a 1" body lift will get you over 2" of clearance.

I understand their other way to clear them, but this is only for a short period of time, three to four months.

Is their an actual problem (besides ego and my jeep looking snaggle toothed) that these will cause?

Adding the 2" shackle lift will increase the angle of the pinion for one, the caster will also change and make it steer and drive bad.
I have seen the springs go to an almost neg arch with long shackles also.
If you offraod at all the longer shackle will be that much lower and will be a target for rocks logs etc. Hit hard enough and it will bend a spring.
It's your Jeep but if it were me I'd toss those 2" lift shackles in the can.

Thats more of the answer i was looking for!

I dont think steering will be all the retarded....I have a few ideas running through my head....

Choices are:
1)use the shackles for about a month, Buy a jks 1.25 BL, full traction shackles reversal, then a 1" bomerang shackles in the rear. Then slowly build up a custom soa on that platform.

2) use the shackles for about 3-4 month and buy a bolt fulltraction 7.5"

I like option #1.... any opinions on this?

I've been running 2" shackles for years now and have had no problems whatsoever. I have 3" springs too. I don't do any hard core rocks , but I do beat the piss out of my Jeep whenever I get the chance.

I used to have a '87 Wrangler w/stock springs & 2" shackles plus 3" body lift. Worked fine for me for two years. I ended up selling it though.. I did buy a '95 Wrangler about 5 months ago. It already had a SOA w/Scout 44's & Chevy 350. I've added a whole lot of stuff to it including 1.5" shackles. Rides just fine even at 70 MPH. Wonders a little bit when about stopped though(due to size of Boggers).
