Oddball radio problem?

Greetings all (1st post ), have a bit of an oddball issue with my YJ's stock radio that I hope you can point me towards a fix... (it doesn't seem to be the likely fuze issue, I've checked for broken/croaded grounds too)

The Jeep has been in storage since 2004 (I'm the original & only owner) & I just got her back on the road a couple months ago (new battery, fluids, etc.) but the radio doesn't work quite right, when I first get in & fire up the Jeep the radio comes on for about a minute or two then barks & goes off & will stay off for 10 or 15 minutes when it will suddenly bark again come on & behave as normal. it does this evey time I stop & shut off the engine regardless of how long I've been driving or stopped... I figured it was probably a fuze or grounding issue (maybe carrosion) but this does not affect the cassette tape - it works just fine any time (course I have only the one Gorden Lightfoot tape left nowadays & just 'cause it was in it when it got parked - but I'm getting abit tired of listening to it) when the radio goes out I can run the cassette & it works great, eject the tape & the radio is still out for a time. when it works it sound just fine, no excessive static or anything & really rough bumpy roads does not seem to cause any problems once it's on. The Jeep has 117,ooo Km on it & other than the spedometer reading 20k/h faster than what the GPS says (& the occasional line of traffic behind me when I forget) everything runs just as good as it did when I parked it 7 years ago (It's been stored indoors). any ideas where to look?

if it helps it's a 1995 YJ 4.0L HO

Thanks & Have a nice day!

have you checked the connection to the FM antenna? I would follow the antenna wire from the back of the stereo to the actual antenna. sounds like its either grounding out or has poor connection.
