oil&temp gauges

anybody know how to check oil&temp sending unit on motor,both of mine r out,,1 cost48.,,1 cost 32.---hate to go buy and it be the gauge or bad wire or something

I'm curious to know how to diagnose this as well. The oil pressure gauge on my TJ is shotty at best. It never wants to work correctly, and I've heard this is common.

I've also heard that its usually just a bad connection, but I've been waaay to lazy to look into it at all. Maybe someone will chime in here and give us a good diagnostic procedure!

take the connector off of the sender and short it onto the engine or a good earth point. switch ignition on, guage needle should move to the right, if it does wiring and guage ok, if no movement suspect wiring or guage fault.
