Smile Oil blow by from oil filler cap

On my 89 Wrangler 4.2 stock engine i get alot of oil blowing out the oil filler cap..i have spoken to NAPA parts store people,Jeep mechanic and Jeep owners..they all said there is nothing i can do about it since it was a poorly designed cap..one even told me he tried 3 NEW caps same problem..my Jeep would not use the little oil it does if this cap could be tighter...what do u guys think ? as always i really appreciate all your advice and replys..thanks..Joes

I don't have the same engine as you. I have the 4.0, but I have never heard of that before. I don't buy into it. Might need to get a quality cap (non-napa).

I bought a new cap and it seems to stop blow by on cap. Make sure you are not having breathing problems with motor that would cause more pressure than cap is designed for. Check the front pcv and rear non pcv elbow. I found someone had put a pcv on the front AND the back on my 88. Corrected that also!! Motor runs much better now.

If you are having a lot of blow out it is most likely because something else, like your PCV valve is clogged up, creating too much pressure for your system to handle.

Check ALL your vacuum lines for clogging. This is a problem that you should be able to fix. Its just a process of elimination. Don't give up on it. Your motor will love you for letting it breathe.
