Question Oil Leak?

I recently replaced the PCV valve and the vacuum lines for the valve cover. I then wiped the valve cover of any oil residue. I took the jeep out for a spin and when I got back the valve cover was coated in oil and dripping onto the ground below the engine. Then wile running the engine I looked inside the valve cover and notice oil was pooling up. The question is... How much is too much oil in the valve cover while running? What else could cause that much oil on valve cover?

Did you have this problem before working on it? Check that the PCV is seated completely and that the vacuum lines are all tight. Also check the valve cover gasket for leaks. It doesn't take much of a leak to get blown all over the engine compartment.

Yes I did have the problem before the work was done. I replaced the PCV valve and grommet because I thought the leak was coming from there. My concern on this question was if the oil was not draining back down into the pan properly. I have since done some more tests and have proven that the oil flow is good through the engine. It takes less that 30 sec for the oil level to rise to full after the engine has been shut down.
