Exclamation Oil pressure pegging out.

I have replaced the sending unit (one wire), PCV valve, breather tube, oil, filter, CANT FINGER IT OUT!! Sometimes fine at idle until I get on the throttle then it pegs, sometimes it drops down and pegs when I go into neutral. 92 YJ 2.5

The back of the gauges in the dash sometimes get corroded and cause problems also.

Mine pegs at start up and if I go down a steep hill wheeling or in an emergency stop situation. I am going to try and flush the system and see what happens.

Sounds like a good excuse to install a proper oil pressure gauge. Factory oil pressure gauges tell you nothing useful. In all my older vehicles I've went to mechanical oil pressure gauge fed by a braided stainless steel hose. The only way to go IMO.

I had a similar problem years ago with my 2.5 and it turns out the whole aluminum PCV tubing had to be replaced because it was too clogged up. I can't remember the cost but I dont think its too much. It was like the engine was breathing in and not exhaling. Oil pressure was at 80 and didn't really drop even at idle though.

I had that problem...replaced the sending unit...couple months later did it again...got a pressure gauge, and found out the new sending unit was bad...spent a little more on the next one(didn't buy it at autozone) and no more problems
