Oil Pressure Problem...?

Hey everyone got a concern with my YJ.

My Oil Pressure keeps going up and down while driving now. Usually at idle its a little below 40 and when driving goes a 1/2 bar to 1.5 bars over to the right when driving. (Bare with me...talking about my stock oil pressure gauge) But currently while driving it stays below 40 and doesn't go up anymore. The Jeep runs fine so I dont know if its the gauge or if its the oil pump starting to go bad...

Anyone else have this problem?

I have a stock 2.5, 5 speed, 1991 YJ.

A couple of things to check. First is easy. Make sure you have plenty of oil. Low oil can give a low pressure reading. Second, sounds like your oil pressure sender unit is going out. It is located right next to the oil filter and has a wire going to it. You may need to get a manual pressure guage and check the pressure that way. If you decide to replace the old one it is easy to replace and not too expensive at an automotive store. Many people recommend replacing with a factory OEM unit, about 60 bucks or if you go aftermarket, you are looking at about 30.
