Oil pressure sending unit...?

I have a decent oil leak from the passenger side of my 88 yj 4.2 and I've heard it may be the oil pressure sending unit. Anyone heard of that before? Trying to locate it but can't seem to find it. Anyone experience this before? Thanks!!

On the passenger side of the block next to the distributor. Screws into the block and yes great source for an oil leak. Fairly easy to replace and can be sourced at most places.

If you have ac, It will make it pretty difficult. When i replaced mine, the ac compressor was right in the way making it pretty tuff to get to.

On my 4 banger I had that problem. Google "YJ oil sending unit" and a video or two should surface on how to find & replace it.

Replaced one on a 1989 4-cyl and another on my 1995 4.0 both in the last month... just above the starter and behind the oil filter. Easy to replace, think it was a 1ľ" wrench to remove and install. Both were shooting a stream of oil through the electrode all over the place. No more leaks now!

Thanks for the info guys. I replaced it yesterday so I'm waitin to see if it helped the leak. The old unit was much bigger than the one I got at the auto parts store but it seems to fit and work just fine. We will see if that helps! Thanks again!
