Arrow Oil Question on 4.2

when I change oil on my 4.2 it takes 7 quarts of of oil to get to the full mark on dipstick is this normal had motor rebuilt 2 years ago and they had to put a new oil pan at that time Not sure if this should hold that much oil

Make sure the dipstick tube is seated all the way on the pan. If its not that could give you the difference in the reading. Check specs on the new pan to see if it holds an additional qt or if it requires a different dipstick.

You sure the dip stick hasn't been replaced?

FYI The dip stick on my 87 4.2 measures 21 inches. That's just what goes down the tube of course.

the low oil mark is at 2 1/4 from tip full mark is at 2 7/8 if mine was 21 in I would have to put in 10 qts I am assuming I have wrong dipstick
