OK you YJ sages, what's the verdict?

I traded for this '93 YJ last summer. It runs fine (4.0 5spd) and has just the typical old YJ issues.

Today, a guy was checking out my Wrangler and told me that it seems smaller than his '89 model. He looked at the floorboard and underneath the Jeep and he thinks that somebody has swapped out the tub. It doesn't seem like it, but the tub was green at some point. Also, he says that the seat mounts are different from his.

Now there is a caveat: I haven't seen his '89 but he told me that has a salvage title. He bought it that way. It looks pristine in pics, but it's also possible that his YJ is A CYTJ, made up of a few different Wranglers.

Anyway, here are some pics of mine. What do the experts think? I Have nothing but online pics to compare mine too.

All YJ's were the same as far as I know... maybe a CJ tub... but they are just about the same.. so cant say it matters...

Let's not forget the CJ6.

There isn't much to worry about as long as you're comfortable with the potential mismatched parts and salvage title. People swap parts - YJ springs on CJs, CJ front ends on YJs, TJ flares on YJs, etc. The tubs are close - not identical, but close.

I have a 91 and your driver's side seat stands look like mine...I have the fold forward stand on the passenger side. If you look on ebay you can buy the fold forward stand for the drivers side to if you'd like. ...anyways a thought on the tubs being the same...Cj doors fit on YJ's and vice versa....so do the hard/soft tops and roll bars.

I have a 93 YJ and the driver side looks exactly the same. The passenger is a little different though. Seems like you have a gap on the floor where the center council sits. Mine doesnt have that.

OK, so you guys kind of see it as a straight YJ, barring a couple of little things. Everything I've looked at online would indicate it's all stock, and I have a clear title, so I'll assume what I'm rolling in is a YJ through and through. Thanks for the input!

I am not sure what years are different but when I went looking for consoles for mine I noticed that there were two sizes. One 8.5"s and another 6.5"s so maybe that is where he sees the difference. I wouldn't worry about it. Dave

It adds character haha, I'd check the firewall for a vin tag or something. Any tub change would definitely be given away there. Also, from what I have read the 91 + yj's were galvanized tubs to be less prone to rust. I think that's a joke because my 94 was swiss cheese before 2010 and this 87 is perfectly fine.

I don't belief that they were actually galvanized, they did some form of rust resistant coating, but many were not properly done and the coating (from what I understood) does not last very long so they are only slightly less prone to rust then the previous years. (That's how I understood it, if I'm wrong please correct me)

I could be too. Just read it in a jeep mag once. Hey it's a jeep. It's gonna rust regardless
