I've been thinking of painting the center of my hood flat black. Last night I decided to say why not and yanked the hood off the Jeep for a few hours. Here's what it looked like:
Hood off and in my shop, taped up and sanded. I followed the existing pinstriping that was already there outlining the hump.
All primed up.
Bolted back on.
Hardware with new paint as well.
Hardware back in place.
All in all it looks awesome!!! I'm happy with it and glad I did it. Start to finish it took a few hours taking my time. Temps got down into the 30's last night, but I had a heater on in the shop keeping it warm enough to paint. While waiting on it to dry I watched a ton of wheeling videos on youtube.
Treat every situation like a dog, if you can't eat it or play with it, pee on it and walk away.
I did mine with wrinkle finish paint and went all the way back to the cowl.
The paint in the photo looks blotchy but after a few days in the sun it evened out.Everyone who has seen it thinks it looks real cool.
