Parking Brake fix

So I was out messing around in the snow, and when I was done I noticed that the parking brake no longer worked. Upon inspection i can push the foot lever down to here the clicking as it normally would engage, however i noticed that the cable is no longer attached to the assembly. I got the recall parts a couple months ago btw. So my question is how do i reattach the cable to the assembly? or how do i loosen the tension on the cable to pull it up and notch it into the lever? You can kind of see it in the pic...

thanks in advance

Todd

It routes under the jeep drivers side. There is a adjusting nut where the main cable connects to the two rear most cables on the axle. Spray it with penetrating oil or pb blaster and back it off. Grab the cable by the pedal with a pair of vice grips and pull the slack. Reconnect to pedal and readjust cable free play underneath. They tend to rust and rot out so now may the time to replace them if needed. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Just FYI... If you haven't checked out this link yet. Jeep has recalled a bunch of parts on the YJ's. I know my e-brake was recalled. I haven't taken mine in yet but maybe if you have the same recall they may replace it for you.

There may be someone on the forum who has already had this done and knows what Jeep is replacing with the recall. But it's worth trying.
