Parking brake switch stuck on? Help

My parking brake has never really worked correctly, but the brake light never stayed on until a month ago. now it stays on even when i release the parking brake, but i have had no brake problems and my fluids are fine. no leaks. 95 yj 2.5 5 speed, stock except for 30.5 x 10.5 tires. i tried disconnecting the battery for a while, didn't work. talked to my mechanic on the phone and he said the parking break switch might be stuck on. where is this and can I fix it?

Also looking at getting a hand winch, any suggestions? and I was wondering what tires were better for offroading, my 30.5's or my smaller pizza cutter snow tires. any help is appreciated. the 30.5's sucked in the snow.

check the switch. as for tires, I like 38.5x15 ground hawgs for snow, and 35 mtz for rocks.

I don't even know where the switch is. how do I fix it? I'm new to working on wranglers. I'm not into rocks, more mud and dirt than anything. should I stay with the wide tires, and keep the pizza cutters for snow?

I know the 95's had a recall issue with parking brakes. It had to do with the foot mechanism. I would check that whole assembly for any problems-switch and whole mechanism My 95 was fixed in the recall.

I gotta wake up early anyway to reattach my windshield lights

And as for the tires, I run these in 33's

Theyre good offroad and Amazing in the snow, theyre constantly self cleaning

If you get a Haynes repair book it shows a good view of the parking brake assy. the switch is at the top of the parking brake held in by the push rod bolt(pivot bolt). as for tires, off road in snow wider is better, on road narrow.

Have you tried lifting the pedal with your foot while holding the release lever?
If the cables are binding the pedal may not be coming all the way up.

The switch is on the back of the pedal mechanism. Follow the cable through the floor to where it attaches and you should see it.

The parking brake recall was for the pedal releasing on it's own. So, I don't think it has anything to do with your issue.

You have a faulty parking brake assembly spring not pulling the e-brake bake up to the open position, and/or you have a faulty e-brake switch which isn't to difficult to fix.

You know... there's a website you might want to check out called *Google*
