pcv troubles

Holy cow! I checked the pcv valve this evening. In the process of removing it the rubber boot split. The valve was caked in carbon, and I mean CAKED. No vacuum leak as the line has sucked itself into the plugged valve. I looked online and can only find the valve itself; no line. What do you use to complete the repair without cobbling something together? Thanks.

any parts store should have some 3/8 hose for that purpose and a new rubber grommet for the valve cover too

Hmmm. Are we talking about the valve in the rear of the valve cover. It has a small hard plastic line coming from it to a vacuum tee. The 3/8 line goes to the elbow tee in the front, right? I could be wrong.

I got my pcv breather and pcv valve with grommets from the local auto parts place in stock. For the breather, I used 19/32" pcv hose I think. The pcv valve line is different, but I did find it online for $5 or so. Haven't had time to order it yet so I will just fix the part that is leaking for now.

Make sure to use pcv line and not vacuum or fuel line. I guess I used vacuum line at one point and it doesn't last very long. The pcv hose is made to withstand the oil and not swell up.
