pegged out

Just purchased 93 Wrangler 4 cyl., runs good, all gauges work but I'm not sure how accurate. The oil pressure gauge pegs out past 80# at road speed and drops back to aout 30# at idle. Haven't tried mechanical gauge yet, just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and wheather the gauge or sending unit is the usual suspect?

Open up the dash and clean the contacts for the gauges. Frequently they get dirty and become undependable.
