Picked up another YJ

We did it again. Picked up another YJ. Its a 93, 4.0L with a/c(which is a must in Florida this time of year).

After looking at a dozen junk heaps north of $7000 we found this one in the middle of nowhere for $3000. It needs a few things but overall we will have a nice Jeep when its done.

I am going to post up a picture. It has 33 12.50 15s on it and on the drive home it did not rub the fenders, so I assume there must be some kind of lift. Anyone have any idea how much it has from this picture?

Only issue down there is that he drilled holes in the body to mount it. I wish he hadn't, but apparently he thought it looked good. So I need the rear portion of the flairs too.

Well, driving it home the transmission blew up and the brakes locked up if that makes you feel any better. It has sat in a field for many years before I got it. The good news is the engine has good compression and runs great and there is very little rust. Every other YJ we looked at for more than double this price were in WAY worse condition, so after I put another $2000 in it I will still be under what everyone else wanted for junk and have a reliable nice Jeep with a/c for less.

The other problem is that the lift is, I think, primarily shackles. I want to put it back to maybe 1" of shackle, if any at all and a real lift. I was hoping to get away with a 2.5" lift.

That kind of repair news doesn't make me feel better it makes me depre$$ed.
I just couldn't believe you got a steal. Me: stars have to line up, I have to have the money, plot, wait, monitor, then pounce. Or sometimes a**-backwards into good fortune. Either way.

If you can get out of brakes and transmission for under $2000 you did better than most. Hat's off to you for the bargain. I agree with you---you can do a lot worse for YJs at 5-6000 these days. For 3000 you inherited the problems that someone would probably sell you for 6000. Congrats.

What is really sad is that the 95 in my signature was only $2800 and all I did to it was a lift kit and rims and tires. Otherwise it was exactly as I bought it. Damn shame we sold it. With the prices going up like they are we should have kept it and just left it in the garage.

Bought my 93 in 2010 with 69,000 on it, 2 previous small town owners, for 4500. Had a 2.5 lift. Questionable AX5 (replaced). Lot of good years. I took some years off from this forum because it was manageable with no crisis. Felt I could've gone lower on price but did not at that time--(I was younger!)--it was pristine. All the money I put into it was me: wheelin hard, daily driver stuff, crap that happens on a 20 year old vehicle etc). But basically stock. Cash doesn't go as far as it used to and everything is inflated. Take the bargain when it comes. If I need it I don't hesitate to buy anymore.
The irony is if your 95 was in great shape maybe you get could 5000 now? Maybe that's not an irony!

Judging from the condition of the junk we looked at for $7000, our 95 would have pulled close to $9000 today. It was super clean. If I could buy it back for the $5600 we sold it for today I would in a heartbeat. Hell, if I could get it back for $7500 I would.

Its funny how we will look back on these prices some day on this forum, the prices are only going to go up from here!
That does look like a really nice YJ and if the frame isn't rotted away then your golden.
