Poison spyder rear bumper

Does anyone know if the rear bumper/tire carrier cage allows you access to the tailgate of the jeep? Looking at pics makes it look as if you may not be able to.

Jeep Wrangler Rear Stinger | Jeep Tire Carrier | Poison Spyder Customs

Looks like there are two pins included for the top supports so the carrier drops towards the ground. PIA in my opinion to then have to lift 70-80 lbs. every time I want into the tailgate. Have you thought about swing-aways like the OR-FAB model? Mine swings away, carriers two Jerry cans, my high lift and has an antenna tab.

Yea I am kinda on the fence about it. On one hand I only use the back about once a week and it looks pretty sick in my opinion. On the other it looks like a pain in the ars to access it. Yeah I've looked at every bumper out there and there's none I just love every aspect. I will take a sec look at yours though. Do you have pics? I'd love to see it loaded down like that.

One up side to the poison spider design is that when you do need your spare you don't have to left an 80lb tire 36"-40" up off the ground (most likly with bad footing).. Since it does fold down to the ground all you need to do is unbolt the spare and stand it up, plus since its hinged you've got some leverage over the weight when you lift it back up when you're done.. If I can eve get mine back up and running I'm gonna finish my knock off of the poison spider carrier..

what type of measurments are you looking for. If i member correctly its 1/4 inch square tubing for the main bumper. got D ring insert things. drilled holes and welded them in. for the swing out carrier. i took a tube i believe it was 2-3 inchs. and the end of a trailer axle and some bearings and put it into the tube for movement. took 2 inch tubing bent it around to the height i wanted and then used the stock tire mount and welded it onto the bars. and poof u got a bumper

What I did on my rear bumper is use the adapter plate that goes on to the stock spare tire rrier. (The adapter that lets you use a 35" tire) I just jerry rigged that to my tire carrier on my bumper..the adapter is a lot slimmer than the whole stock tire carrier. You also get to keep your stock tire carrier if you ever need it..Idk why you would but it never hurts to have extra parts laying around.
