Posi-lok

I did the spring and nut in the axle disconnect on the front. Now whenever I turn corners my front chirps the tires. I have the stock dana 30 with 4.11 gears. The front cover has never been off. Just wondering if anyone else has had this? Or, would jeep have put a locker in the front of a 95 rio grande?

Thats normal for them to chirp when the axle is engaged. Thats why I like the cable posi or the vacuum actuator.

Driveshaft is out. And it definitely is the tires. I just drive it in circles on my lunch break and it's leaving black marks. I guess I'll just pull the diff cover and see what's going on.

It sounds like you do have a locker of some sort. Just engaging the CAD shouldn't chirp the tires if it were an open diff... but if you had a locker you'd probly hear more clunking from the diff when you were turning... and you'd notice it would be more difficult to turn...

maybe someone welded the spider gears..

I have a one piece TJ axle shaft in my passenger side, so basically it eliminates the need to actuate anything except the transfer case shifter to go into 4x4. I have an ARB locker up front as well. When in 2hi my tires dont chirp even at full lock.

I pulled the cover and there are no spider gears. Its four little blocks in place of them. So I put the vacuum back on and drove it up the road. Smooth as can be! Thanks guys for your help. My bad for not checking first.

just passenger side shaft, get a new seal though for it, else if you go through any water you'll end up getting some inside and turning your gear oil into sluge lol.. it came in mine as the PO wanted to eliminate the use of the posi-lok cable.. he left that in there, and a buddy of mine from the forum needed one so i let him take it. You can get em on e-bay too brand new, i hear yukon shafts are the best to use.
