power steering bracket bolt size?

90 yj 2.5 5 speed

im doing the power steering conversion and read that the bolts that attach the bracket to the intake manifold were m10 1.5 28 however, those bolts do not fit.
my google-fu has also failed me. any one know for sure?

Thanks in advance!

On a 90 they would still be SAE. Didn't switch to metric till 91. I would say 5/16-18.

My 89 is metric. I know this for sure. Just bought 2 m10x1.5 nuts for my pump stud to bracket 2 weeks ago. Might need to chase the threads with a die.

Which bolt are you talking about? I'll pull it and let you know size and pitch. 3 had 15mm heads and 1 was 14....

3/8ths is the thread size! what a pain that was 4th times a charm i guess lol it was the ones that bolt the bracket to the intake manifold. and its the bracket that connects from the intake down to under the motor mount.

The 1990s with the one wide belt is a mix of old and new, most early 90s with v-belts are in Inches and 91s are Metric, Late 1990 is just what ever.

If you have an 89 with an 89 motor in it, if it has metric bolts on it then either someone previously switched them or you have some type of hybrid motor. The 4.2L motors didn't have metric anything on them.

My 87 has no metric on the entire Jeep, and my 93 was all metric except for the oil drain plug...lol. I stripped it the first time I changed oil (figuring it was metric) a 15mm seemed to fit tight. Till I reefed on it and stripped it. It was 11/16.

89 yj 2.5, I replaced motor with an atk long block but every bolt on swapped over. My old man bought it in 91 with 26000 miles on it and I've had it since 99. I know damn near every inch of this yj.
