Puttering at idle

Right now whenever I get her started shell putter and spit when she's idling but soon as I give it a little gas it sounds and revs okay anybody got any ideas? I just replaced the fuel filter so that's out I've got a 94 4.0L thanks

Start with Removing the IAC motor and clean the pintle and orifice. They tend to get carboned up and affect the idle quality.
