Q on Lifter Damage

95 YJ with 2.5 liter.

I had two sticking lifters so I pulled them out and they're all wore and chipped up on the bottom. The crank lobes are also damaged. All others are fine.

Any ideas as to why two of them would be damaged and no others? I'm only concerned cuz I bought a new cam and lifter kit and am wondering if there is anything about these engines that I should look into so I don't end up with the same damage on the new hardware.

Well it sounds to me like the push rods caused that. I've heard that the engines in jeeps have a "famous slap" to them. A few reasons of Camshaft wear-corrosion,stuck valves, lack of lubrication, or engine detonation.
