quick fuel sending unit fix.

If anyone has a fuel sending unit that does not work, it might not be the fuel sending unit. Mine was stuck at three quarters and wouldn't go any lower. We took out the fuel sending unit, and found out that water has gotten into the float. we changed the float out and now it works perfect . Any Jeep dealer can now order just the arm and float. It's around $30 and will fix the problem 98 percent of the time.

Just bumping the thread to see if any weekenders have found this to be a common problem & fix.

Its a arm on the fuel sending unit itself. According to the dealership, it can be popped off, and replaced with a new arm and float. I ordered mine for about 30 bucks and it was a heck of a lot cheaper then ordering a new fuel sending unit for 300 bucks. When you take the fuel sending unit out look for a round black float. When you take the float off, shake it, and about nine times out of ten , you will hear fuel in the float.

Close, but it had nothing to do with the cup in the tank, and did not need to bend the arm, all that is usually required is a float replacement
