You need special tools, and if its not done correctly your can be buying new gears. 2k is way too much, get some other bids.. around here labor is about $500-600 and gears about the same.

Good to know. I thought 2k sounded way to high.

You can get the gears and master install kit for about $450 or just get the gears for about $325.
If you know anyone into race cars or working on race/drag cars, they can usually set up gears for a cheaper price, or atleast that's how it is around here. Race mechanics change gears a lot.
2k in way too much. You should be able to get everything done for $1,000 or less

So you think 1000 or less for both axles?

That is what I was told from a friend that does race cars. You can buy your gears through a lot of different places, just do a search, or look in any 4wd magazine. I have seen sets on e-bay that go for really cheap, but are good brand name. The labor shouldn't take much more if any than 6 hrs. for both axles. @ 65.00 hr (which is normal price here) is only $390.00 for labor which is a good pay for only 3/4 of a days work. Do the math.
I did just a quick search on e-bay, and I got this complete with all new everything, front and rear package 4.88 ratio

DANA 30 35 JEEP WRANGLER YJ 4.88 RING AND PINION INSTALL GEAR PACKAGE 1987-1996 | eBay

Good luck, and keep this in mind.......don't let a dishonest wrench monkey cheat you out of the money you work for. A man has to make a living and all, but there are honest mechanics out there and they usually do better work than the over-priced bloated-ego wrench monkeys do
