Question Re-gearing Front and Rear Differential

I have a 94 YJ 2.5L 5 Spd manual and i am planning to install a 2.5 inch suspencion lift and a 1 inch body lift, so I can run 33s on it.
The only problem I see is that I will lose 5th gear.
So I talked to a company called Ring and Pinion.
I toled them what I have in mind to do and that I will use the car for on and off road.
They toled me that I should go with 4.88 in the front and rear differential.
Here is the link:
http://www.ring-pinion.com/ProductDe...px?ProdID=4448
But if I do what they recommend than I think the maximum speed I will get on I-95 is 60 mph and not more.
And this is something I don't like.
So I was hoping to get something in between where I can achieve both, enough speed and enough torque to run the 33s.

Any Ideas ????

you will still rub with that lift and those tires you need to run atleast 4 inch springs with a 1in body lift to not rub the back fenders. just remember you will have to add extended brake lines, longer shocks, sye kit, or transfer case drop kit.

IMHO just do spring over and be done with it

Go with the 4.56 gears. They will get you more top end. IMO the 4.88's are a little overkill if you plan on running on the road often.

Yes, I was thinking the same that the 4.88 are over the top and not appropriate for street riding.

they work fine for 35inch tires but then the POS D35 would go boom

well hopefully i'm not straying here but i'm also looking for some advice/suggestions for my 93 yj. it has a soa, sye, 4:88, and 35's on it already. i want to put lockers front and rear...well probably just rear for now...money issues. it has stock dana 30 and 35 in it. jeep is not used on the pavement.

been scanning thru posts and most everyone says scrap the 35 and replace it. what do y'all recommend i do?

Hopefully you have the 4banger because they came with 4.10 gears, then you can go find a ford 8.8 rear out of a 98 and up exploder and its almost a direct swap.

Well then I would get a ford 8.8 and a spool, with 4.88 gears then install a aussie locker in the front.

this is a good write up on the 8.8 swap.

A spool does away with your spider gears it works like a locker but it does not unlock. It completly locks the axles together. Just bolts to the ring gear and has splines for axles.
