What axle do you have? If its a c-clip axle you have to rotate the carrier so you can pull the small bolt that holds the pinion shaft in place (tighten it first and then loosen it to prevent it from breaking) once that's out you slide the pinion shaft out, push in on the wheel and inside the carrier (like magic) will be your c-clip. Pull it out and out comes the shaft. You may need to loosen your rear brakes as well.
