Rear end has rubber plug not metal bolt?

I am new to the jeep world and still learning. I was doing the basic service to my jeep and noticed that the plugin the rear end was rubber not the usual metal plug i am used to taking out? Is this right? Thanks jeremy

That title ranks right at the top.

The rubber plug indicates that you have a D35 rear end. Yes, its right.

what type rear end is it if there is no drain plug at all?

yep figured the title would get attention lol but thanks that kinda worried me a little when i saw that.. thanks for the help tho! and also how do i tell how the jeep is geared ? im sure i have no top end speed because its a 4 cyl. but does it seem right that i its even hard to go 65 sometimes with a lot of wind?

should have 4.11's in it stock with the 4 cyl.

do they make a cover with a drain? seems kinda iffy to have to open it each time the gear oil is changed. drill a hole and use a teflon plug?
