Rear Main...

Took a little stroll out to the garage today. I ran the Jeep pretty good yesterday. Went to pick up tiny's son from school in it and drove it around town and what not... Anyway, so I go out to the garage and something under the Jeep catches my eye. Bear in mind this Jeep NEVER leaked a drop of oil before. I'm guessing the PO dumped some kind of stop leak in the damn thing...
I just recently changed over to synthetic. I guess once it warmed up and the oil worked through the system, the leak stop was gone and the freakin' thing started bleeding oil. Know, I don't know which rear main to buy. The engine is out of newer XJ. But one thing is for sure, I'm gonna go ahead and put a clutch in it while its down. Oh Joy! I was kinda hoping it was a 2 piece seal, but I'm not that lucky.
So, transfer, trans and all are gonna get dropped... All this and I have to drop the tank and replace the seals and fuel pump and all.

I'm gonna talk to the DMV and see if I can get the registration changed to read 2008. Cuz when all is said and done this freakin' thing is gonna be brand new.

Yea I have heard synthetic or additives can remove gunk that has built up and clogged leaks. Im just gonna stick with conventional in mine. Good luck with the work.

Heck, don't get the reg changed......just a couple more years and it will be an historical vehicle and special plates can be had! Too bad about the repairs though. PITA
