Rear Swap

I have a 1991 YJ with the in- line 6 & auto tranny. The rear went some time ago & I've been told I can use a Chrysler 8-1/4 rear with the same gear ratio which is 3.55. The rear I have available is from a 1995 Cherokee. I also hear that the spring & shock mounts need to be replaced to make it work.

Just my opinion but if you don't have the diff yet and were willing to go through replacing the spring and shocks mounts to make the 8 1/4 work then just upgrade to the Ford 8.8... There a dime a dozen, same amount of work, include disc brakes and available in the 3.55 ratio you need..
