rebuilt 2.5 ticking

Hello again. So I have a 1993 wrangler that bought as a project. I have takin tranny out and had rebuilt also did same with engine. My problem is a engine tick. I thought maybe engine just needed breaking in period so I waited till bout 900 miles on it and took it back to mmachine shop that did the rebuild. They checked it over and said lifters were fine and all as good with no explanation for the tick other than some motors do that. I'm not buying that theory. I still have bout month left on warranty. Just wondering if any suggestions. Thanks

Get another opinion, something is not right, could be anything from a lifter, rocker , exhaust leak or worse....something in the pistons/rods etc.

So had mechanic take a listen he said definately sound like lifter to him. Any truth to idea of exhaust manifold leak causing same noise?? Just covering all bases before taking back to machine shop and handle it

Just an fyi, these Jeep motors do tend to have a "tick". Usually lifters, some mechanical lifters can do that.

Mine does it, so do many others. But yes if you have a manifold leak it can make a much similar noise.

Ok thanks. Not sure I go for the "its a jeep thing" idea since the motor was totally rebuilt I don't think it should be ticking. But thanks for the info

I know it sounds sketch, but things can be true. A motor is a marvelous mechanical box that has a ton of moving and touching parts under high heat and stress.

A tick doesnt sound so unnecessary then. Same thing with cancer.
