Removed my NP231 shifter, and this fell out

Bits of black plastic. I assume it "was" a plastic bushing of some sort? Anyone know what it's called, and where I can find a new one?

It's called a shift handle isolator. You can find one here:

while you are at it, you might also replace the isolator clip.

Perfect timing for me with this post Copperhead!

I was about to ask the EXACT same thing. I just replaced my AX 15 and I had to remove the shift lever for the transfer case and there was all this crumbled hard rubber under the shifter... wonder what makes this hard rubber crumble like that?
