Removing the front trackbar

Has anyone removed their front track bar to gain more flex? Is this a bad idea or unsafe? Looking to gain a little more flex. Please let me know your input!

mine is gone it has a good bit more flex off road but i also dont have a sway bar. that being said with the 33 13.5s bias ply pit bulls i get death wobble about 35mph if you drive your rig on the street look into the JKS telescoping track bar so you will still have flex on the trails and street manners on paved roads

Is this because you don't have the sway bars, or no track bar? The death wobble that is. An those telescopic track bars are too expensive for my taste. That just $250 that could go toward coil overs on it. Lol

I run without the front or rear track bar and the sway bar has also been removed. I don't have any problems with death wobble. I run 31" MT tires on 15X8 rims. The flex is great without the track bars or sway installed. I do get a bit more body roll in a turn, but I have learned to work with that.

I say take them off and see if you like it. If it is not for you, simply reinstall them.

Ya that's what I figured I'd try. Just removing it and seeing if I liked it. Just worried about the safety issue of rolling it since I have 33s and 7" of lift

No track or sway bars here either. Running 35 BFG KM2's with SOA setup. This is my daily driver and has done many road trips. Try it and see how it feels to ya. Death wobble? Check everything over, something else is going on. Maybe a hub going or a bad hime joint? I don't even run a steering stabilizer shock anymore.

First of all... why do you have only 33s on 7" of lift?!

Secondly, remove both your track bars, not just the front. They're both leaf sprung axles, so there's not much sense in removing only the one. If you're worried about body roll on the street leave the sway bar on, but I'll ask you what I ask every other YJer that asks this question. Did you buy a Jeep or a Corvette? Drive it like what it is and you'll have no problems.

Death wobble comes from ill-maintained components (or a massive amount of shackle lift). If you get DW after taking the track bars off your tie rod ends and/or your ball joints should be serviced and aligned.

Because my sissy 4 banger can barely pull 33s. It's not yet geared properly.

There's nothing wrong with running 33s, but it's a bit overkill to run that much lift for that size tire. 4" woulda been plenty. Unless you have grand plans of running 37s down the road.

i dont have either tracbar or the swaybar and im good on the road. i drive interstate 15 miles a day and no problems at all. irongrave i wonder if those bias pitbulls are the reason for the bad wobble. if all your other components are in good shape that is. ive had a couple buddies of mine run those tires and on the road they made their whole jeep shake bad. one buddy was running them on a 3/4 ton ford and they did it to him too. in the dirt those tires are sweet though. and they look badass.

Between the pitbulls, the very flexy flipped BDS springs (2in front wheel base stretch), little too much shackle lift, long travel shocks and a few other things all contribute to the DW. But thats why i have a Ram so i can pull the jeep to trails (nothing local anyway)

Is it a bad ideal to remove the track bars if your leaf springs are essentially flat as glass? I want to remove mine, but my springs are shot and I'm afraid of axle wrap.

No Track Bars or front Sway Bar on mine and no issues. When running 70 on the freeway, I get just the slightest vibration with my 33/12.5' BFG A/T's but I think it's a balancing issue.

Before I did any lift or anything with my YJ, the leafs were also very flat and worn. I would disconnect the sway bar for off-roading and I did get a bit of death wobble. I believe this was caused by the worn bushings in the spring ends being shot. I would not want to go without sway bars or track bars with worn out springs and bushings very far. Look into replacing the bushings to give a more firm ride to be on the safe side.

Thanks man, I guess the track bars will have to stay in place until I get her lifted. I didn't even think about the death wobble factor-good thinking.

I'm gonna give this a shot. I guess worst case I can put them back on. And ya my bushings are in great shape but when I bought 1" lift shackles I bought all new bushings before I checked mine and spent an extra $50 I didn't have to because mine were perfect. 
