Replacement Body panel questions.

Can anybody tell me if the Replacement Rocker panel with lower cowl for an 76-86 CJ-7 work on a YJ? I need to replace the Drivers side rocker panel/lower cowl area and I can't find anybody selling a replacement panel for a YJ. Also can anybody tell me if the replacement panels have the raised JEEP letters in them?

I also need to replace the Drivers side Rear fender panel on my YJ and I'm looking at a replacement panel for a 76-86 CJ-7. Will it fit? Thanks for the help! Here's the link to the panels I'm looking at.

Tried doing a search and couldn't find anything about CJ panels fitting YJ's. I can't believe nobody makes replacement rocker panels/rear fender panels for a YJ. They make them for TJ's and they are newer.

I head that the CJ7 rocker panels will fit the YJ. The door frame is the same as well so yes the CJ7's panels are safe to use on a YJ. But don't buy from quadratec. I tried ordering mine from there 2 weeks ago. I was supposed to get my 2 panels 2 fridays ago. The rocker panels are on back order and won't be back in stock until mid to late October. So if you can wait, you can order them from quadratec. But if you want the panels as soon as possible like me, order else where. I haven't gotten the chance to cancel my order from quadratec yet but I'm working on it.

Ok thanks for the info guys! I called Quadra today and orderd the floor pan and your right YJman they are out of stock on the rocker panels. They wanted me to back order it but I said no. I'm in no hurry as this is a winter project. I'm actually looking foreward to breaking out the Mig. Been a while since I've used it.

Just to clarify CJ-7's are the same ( and I think CJ-5's are too but I'm not sure) anything earlier has a much smaller door opening

The only thing that bothers me about the replacement panel's is that they don't come with the raised Jeep letters pressed in. The passneger side rocker on my jeep is solid so I'm gonna have one side that is flat and the pass side is going to have the raised jeep letters. I wonder if you can get a replacement panel from a body shop that would be correct?

Does the area around the raised Jeep lettering need replacing? If that area is still solid you can just cut the rotten piece of the rocker panel out and cut that same area off of the new panel, then weld the new piece where the old piece was supposed to be on the body.

Does this even make sense? lol

By the way my name is Mike too

It makes perfect sense Mike but in my case I'm not so lucky. Most of the "P" in Jeep is gone.

Darn I think that the flat side panels will look okay though. Maybe there's a decal that says Jeep that you can put on the new panels.

Have you looked at Classic Enterprises?

Go to: classicent.com

They have a good selection of replacement panels made in USA and they seem to be high quality. They have panels with the Jeep logo on the side (they say they have a license from Chrysler to make these).

The prices are pretty high, but I think it may be worth using a few of these - I am doing a major rebuild of a CJ-7 and will be replacing nearly everything from the "Jeep" on back.

My only problem with these folks is that they don't offer rear quarter panels - I will have to get them from Quadratec or 4WD, I guess. By the way - anybody have a preference between these two places (as far as body panels go), or a comment on the quality of those panels?

Thanks!
Dan.

Hello everyone. My first time here.

Thanks Dan-in-WV for the tip on Classic Enterprises. I just found out I need to replace the driver side rocker panel on my 1990 YJ, and until now, it was going to set me back $469 PLUS $125 overweight freight charge from one of the "biggy" Jeep parts places. My panel has the raised JEEP letters. After looking at Classic, and speaking to Jeff, who is responsible for fabrication, I've ordered a replacement from them for $155 PLUS $15.50 for freight, and NO tax! Makes this job a whole lot easier to deal with!

So, for a first visit, I'd say it was well worth my time!

Thanks!
Aidan
