Replacing Glass In Hardtop: Need Help!!

I know this has been asked in the past, but I could not find a thread for the subject. I have a 93 YJ with a broken drivers side glass in the hardtop. I have a replacment peice but how in the world do you get the glass and seal back in the top? I have said so many choice words the wife walked back into the house. I would appreciate any advice you could give me. Also, this is my first post on the forum and would like to say hi to all. I enjoy reading the information provided on the forum, it has been very helpful.

You've picked a not too fun project for your first You will need some 1/8" nylon cord, cord that runs the drapes in the house works great if you have some of that.

First put the seal on the glass, place the string in the grove in the seal overlapping at the bottom. With you on the inside, have a helper place the window in the hole bottom edge first, getting the string ends inside. While the helper is pushing on the glass slowly pull the string end toward you pulling the seal edge over the lip of window frame, do one side then the other until you get all the way around the window, as you get further along the helper may need to do some flat handed slapping on the glass to help get the seal to seat.

Here's a couple of links on windshield installs, this is the same way old style windshields were installed. Hope this helps

Thank you for the advice Lancem, I will give that a try. I knew there had to be a trick to it. The wife told me to take it down to the local glass company and have them do it. Now you know I have to get that window in or I will never hear the end to it.
