Yes, half the column has to come apart and if it's your first time it can be tricky and if it's a tilt column then it's very tricky.. Your going to need a steering wheel puller as well as a lock plate puller and some picks. Be patient when trying to slide the harness down through the column. It's tight but it will slide.

make sure you rebolted the wiper switch assembly to the turn signal harness assembly. Double check you didn't pull the steering harness connector out, it is easy to bust the plastic mounts.

i am now *very* intimately acquainted with the GM tilt steering column. ha!

i fixed the wiring problem with my windshield wipers (didn't need to replace the switch after all), and got the blinkers back online.

remind me to never do that again. :P

Oh I don't think you will need reminding.

I'm on my third time into it because My father broke the Wiper Handle off. I got the handle replaced and the wipers and turn signals still work, but it broke the switch for the washer fluid. I have to stick my finger behind the handle to get any fluid on the window.
