Rock sliders...

I got some of those eBay e auto grilles rock sliders. They didn't come with instructions but they are built solid! I read on the smittybilt instructions that you have to cut the body mount by 3/16... Is this necessary? Also, any advice, tips, or tricks that would help me with the install?

they probably want you to cut the mounts because the slider is 3/16" thick and will somewhat lift your body by that much. not necessary to do.

I'd just rather not cut into my body mounts lol will it affect the way it looks on the body though? I don't want to have gaps where dirt and water can get in easily

One of my buddy's did not cut his mounts but his mounts were always coming loose. I cut the mounts on my 95 and never had an issue.

I have the same ones off eBay, didn't cut anything, and have had no problems.

When I installed mine I just ground the material off and gave it shape with a grinder. Had to take one or two back off because bolts weren't long enough to catch thread.

I think I'm gonna go with out cutting them and see how that works... I can always cut later if I need too... Thanks for the input!

Does everything sit flush with yours? Are there any gaps on the body where water and dirt can get in?

I have look at these, but wondered about build quality. So they're of good quality? I have no trouble removing 3/16's worth of body mount if it sures them up quite a bit.

They are good quality and fit well, I did a small write up on them when I installed them. I'll see if I can find it

I also have a friend that has their front bumper and rear bumper with tire carrier, I have checked them both out closely and aside from the hardware he got with them that rusted quickly they are very nice. One of these days im going to order the tire carrier bumper.
