Rough idle!

I have a 95 4.0 5 speed. It runs good as far as going down the road but if it has to sit and idle it sounds like it missing. It needs a new tailpipe but surely this isn't making it run like crap..... Its a daily driving so i need help!!!

idle air control valve should be cheap and even easier to fix, just two bolts that hold it on up top. if i remember correctly i think its torx bolts that hold it on

Mine has the same problem so changed plugs, wires, cap, and o2 sen but didn't fix it. It ran better don't get me wrong but still had a rough idle plus I need a new exhaust also

check to make sure your timing is right, isn't to expensive just to take it in and get it done, real pain in the a.. to do it yourself.

Time for a tuneup!! A full tuneup should be done every 2-3 years or so. Flush all fluids, replace dizzy/rotor/plugs/wires, vacuum tubing, air/fuel filter, 02 sensor, MAP, injector cleaner, TB scrub, and oil change of course.

I will try the idle air control valve and new plugs and wires. Noticed that the air filter has oil on it??? Pcv valves maybe...

Might not be a bad idea to throw some new sparkplugs in there but if its not missing up high, it probably isn't plugs.

I'm crazy, I actually like to troubleshoot cars instead of throwing parts at them. I'd borrow a vacuum gauge next and see what's going on. There are some decent youtube videos that show how to troubleshoot using one. You should have at least18-19lbs vacuum.

I bought a book to make sure wires r on right and they weren't so I swapped them around and jeep wouldn't start. So I put them back the way they were and it runs like crap so my timing is off I would guess
