What's your normal running temp?
I have a 2.5 and my normal temp was 210 which from what I understand is normal. I just replaced the radiator, hoses and therm now it seems to run 20-30 degrees cooler. My go to mechanic says don't worry about it my hoses are building pressure, coolant is cycling and i have heat.
They ran a little hotter from the factory for emissions. Like CAD said though, if you have a cooler thermostat, it will run cooler. You don't want to run too much cooler than "stock", but 180-190 is still safe for the engine.
I just thought it was odd it runs that much cooler. I put a 195 therm back in and I honestly don't think it's opened since I put it in. It doesn't seem to get hot enough to open.
Anyway 210 is too hot for any vehicle considering 212 is boiling point! Seriously doubt you want it boiling hot....yeah I know antifreeze brings the boiling point down but 210 is still too hot...my '87 runs at like 160
Normal operating temperature IS 210.
Thats why it is straight up, and numbered on the gauge.
Fuel injected engine need to be above 180 just to get into closed loop operation. The antifreeze, and the system pressure raises the boiling point sufficiently to safely run at 210 where the engine operates at peak efficiency.
