seat belt assembly - replacement?

Happy Monday!

My seat belt assemblies (the rig that retracts and controls the belt) have been sketchy from day one. On my last dunes trip the passenger side completely died and my driver side is moody. I have already broken off the plastic covers to mess with the release mechanism.

I want to replace that whole assembly. The belts are good, and the latches are good and I'm hoping to get a part made for my YJ...

Here's the problem...I can't find the part! I must be searching for the wrong thing or not on the right website. Can anyone help? Should I just have a mechanic take care of this (due to safety, etc.)?

Thanks for the help.

You can just replace the whole seatbelt, belts, buckles, retractor for well under $100 bucks a side. It is a simple bolt in. Why risk it when the fix is easy and cheep?

You can even upgrade a little. Corbeau makes a full harness that replaces the 3 pt system so you can have a flexible belt for everyday driving that can be locked to use as a full harness when offroad.

Just try all the usual suspects; Quadratec, Morris4x4, 4wd.com Etc., for best price

Quadratec will do free sheeping to WF members and are a sponsor of WF. Just search WF for Free Quadratec Shipping for details.

Seatbelt Solutions 9295P-1000 - Front Metal Push Button 3 Point Retractable Belts for 92-95 Jeep® Wrangler YJ - Quadratec

that looks like an OEM-ish replacement...but my hesitation is I can't tell if it has the retracting mechanism included?

I definitely want to upgrade to harness belts, but I want to actually try them out/see them in person...I'm little and want to make sure I get the right harness set up.

Looks like it is from the picture. Give them a call and confirm with Quadratec.

I just bought a set from Quadratech. They are great people to work with. They sell Seatbelt Solutions and you have to be careful. Most everything for the YJ breaks at 1992 but the seatbelts have different models between '91 and '92. Naturally I ordered the wrong ones but Quadratech took them back and replaced them with the right ones at no extra cost. I'm quite happy with mine.

I wonder if you could simply Velcro strap something lower on the roll bar that the belt can slide through but be positioned where comfortable....like some belts have for children.
