Seat belt light on all the time

I wear my seat belt and so does my wife in the passenger seat but the red indicator light on the dash is still on. Anyone know what might be a fix for that other than removing the light bulb?

could be that the connector for the belt, which side i wouldnt know, is un-connected, you can unbolt the latch side to find out

there is a plug at the bottom of the belt by the floor. disconnect it, turn power on and short out the two pins. if the light goes out the problem is in the belt switch mechanism.

will removing that bulb affect anything else on the instrument panel or just solely remove the seatbelt indicator light? (Not a seat belt fan)

Just fix the indicator or look for the plug that might be disconnected like navychief said . No taking the bulb out wont affect or throw any codes. But why not fix it the right way?

I retired from the auto collision business with a stint as an insurance adjuster for a couple years.
Anyone who doesn't wear their seatbelt is a fool. Just my opinion.
If you think it won't happen to you.....Good Luck, L.M.

You are correct Sir. I didn't disengage my seat belt system so that I could drive without a seat belt. I did it so that I can do thing with the drivers door open without the chime going off. I'm 70 years old and I didn't get this far by doing dumb stuff. Besides, our local police will write me a citation in a heartbeat if I don't keep the seat belts buckled.

Thanks for the reminder. I was only curious about the light while we were on the subject.

I had no idea yjs had a seatbelt light. Learn something new everyday. My light must be burned out.
