Shackles

How can I tell what type of shackle came with my jeep. It came with a 3 inch superlift leaf spring but the shackles are bigger than stock. I am planning to go to a 4 inch Pro Comp lift but want to replace the shackles with the grease able kind and I don't know how to tell what additional lift my shackles are giving me.

I think stock shackles are 4 inches. Every 2 inches longer your shackles are, thats 1 inch of lift. So 6 inch shackles are 1 inch of lift over stock

You really dont want to go over 1 inch of lift with shackles cause it will throw your caster angle off on the front end

Nice Jeep, Those look like 1" lift shackles from your pic

I actually want to put a 4 inch pro comp lift and reduce any shackle lift I currently have but I don't want to loose any height I currently have. So 1 more inch of leaf spring lift, 1 less lift of shackle. Like I said this is what came with the jeep and I'm not necessarily thrilled with it.

What's the measurement form eye to eye on your shackles, that'd let us know how high your shackles have you raised. Also, I've had problems with procomp lifts, made for a very rough ride....

About 6.25 inches. What brand lift do you think it is good and soft for articulation. Not too worried about ride super lift is pretty stiff.

Those shackles are about 1" lift so a 4" would even you out. My old 4" procomp didn't flex at all and I was not impressed with that kit even a little. My skyjacker kit works, but if I was to get another kit, I'd get a rubicon express or bds lift. I think it is well worth it to save up for a good kit before getting a crappy one.

I don't rock crawl for fun, I just like to get into the back country for hunting and want to be ready for black diamond trails as they come up. My shackles must go and I was told my super lift was the most stiffest lift on the market.

Your near my location seeing you're from hesparia. Well I'll just say my 4" pro comp couldn't handle john bull trail or a few others in our local mountains haha. Almost made me flip because a lack of articulation. Just do a good amount of homework before you choose a lift and check out the lift reviews on this forum http://www.wranglerforum.com/f8/yj-l...ews-25156.html

X2 on the Pro comp lift. Mine doesn't flex well either! I've gotta say when I get the $$ to swap it out I will. I think the general agreement here is RE or OME and stay away from RC cause the name says enough.

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't heard of Jon bull, but I do horse thief flats trail and gold mine with my current setup. Just hate those dang long shackles.
