Slow crank...battery, alternator, or starter...?

I have a '91 but only owned it the past few years. I've always noticed a slower start up compared to new cars, but I don't think it was anything to sweat about.

Today for the first time in my ownership the engine turned over. It had the prototypical, cyclical turning over sound. I stopped, waited a second and then cranked again, it started maybe a little longer than normal, but started.

Once fired, the battery voltage meter was normal on the dash board.

Anyone have any ideas? Is it Jeep specific or is the alternator/starter or combination of both going?

Theres 120k miles.

with winter right around the corner and depending on where you live, i'd replace the battery. if its at least several years old then it's probably the culprit.

After posting this the symptoms went away, until this morning when the Jeep wouldn't start. I called AAA thinking it was a battery, hoping to get a jump then head to AAP, to get a new battery.

AAA tested the battery and I need a new starter, battery is fine.

Anyone have experience with starters?

They are very easy had a similar issue durring the winter months a few years back had to do it in the driveway in six inches of snow (just snowed) it's a few nuts and terminals make sure to keep the green(I think) wire attached to the solenoid forgot that (had an extra wire and didn't know why issue) and had to climb out from the snow warm up and rethink the issue over which was the most time consuming part took about an hour with removal, travel and napa time, installation, scratching head time and final product. And the two bolts on the starter Are different lengths I made that mistake too the long bolt will go in the other hole fine but the short one will feel kinda striped in the wrong hole
