My mechanic showed me a trick that might work. If you have enough of the bolt sticking up you can slide or screw a nut on it and weld nut to broken bolt. If you can, then you have a surface to grab with a wrench and extract the bolt. Just be careful of heat and any metal in area.

I almost have enough room to weld that head back on.. so just weld another bolt to the top eh? sounds a lot better then having to drill that crap out . Just hope the weld doesn't snap..

Thanks

If you take the valve cover back off you should have enough thread to get it out.
The proper torque on those is around 55 inch pounds which is about 6 foot pounds. I just snug them by hand, too tight and you squeeze the gasket or RTV out..Don't weld a bolt, spot weld a nut...

I agree , if the head is snapped off the bolt, the cover should come up. It may be stuck because of the RTV(if you use it) I know I have a helluva time getting the cover off, takes a while being careful not to damage the cover or gasket surface. Did you try prying lightly near the bolt to see if the cover would lift off. Sometimes you have to run a sharp blade under the cover to break the RTV seal.

Use nut welded to bolt not another bolt.

yeah...def just weld a nut if to the top of it. but for best results i would try to get the cover off 1st then mess with what left of the bolt. maybe some light taps from a rubber mallet or a light dead blow hammer will knock it loose...GL w/ it...
