Smile Soft Clutch Pedal

Hey all, got a 95 Wrangler and just the other day when i got in it, it felt like the clutch pedal was a bit softer. Normally about halfway down im totally disengaged, but it felt like i had to step it all the way to the floor this time. I had it in gear and the pedal down, and the thing still rolled a bit forward so it seems its not totally disengageing, but that also could be a product of the weak pedal not holding the clutch enough. Any ideas? Maybe air in the system?

check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder. most of the time this causes a soft pedal and it will not release the clutch completly ,,,keep an eye out for leaks around the bell housing if it shows up leaking the fluid here you'll need a clutch slave cylinder.....good luck

i got a soft clutch from poping it in 2nd gear to get a start... the monkeys at tires plus fixed it with no charge.. so i can imagine it might be just a simple fix..

I have an 89 Wrangler and had the same experience. Still don't have it solved. Wondering if there is some kind of clutch adjustment. Like you stated, soft initially, and then doesn't feel like the clutch fully disengages to shift even when fully pressed.

With any luck it is not the slave cylinder, mine is an internal. Check you clutch master cylinder. Is it full of fluid? Look up near the top of your clutch pedal, is there fluid around were it enters your jeep from the outside? I have been told this is VERY unusual but it happened to mine recently and was getting air into the clutch line but the fluid was staying full.

soft clutch

I had the same problem I replaced the fluid and bleed the system, solved. Just like any other hydraulic fluid it needs to be replaced, especialy in 10 year old + jeeps.
