I have a hard top and full steel doors. I have been wanting to switch to a soft top and I ha a few questions I've seen a few different brands that make them for full steel doors and I wanted to know what brand is best for function and what looks better? Frameless or the soft tops with bows? I also wasn't sure( this may be a dumb question) but can the frameless tops be folded all the way back? Any help is appreciated thanks!
I have the bestop that works with full doors. It's ten years old and in need of a new skin now. I may re skin or try the frameless next. I like the look of them. I don't think they fold back but you can get a bikini top cheap for shade if you needed it.
I just got the Bestop "Replace a Top". It doest fit very well, good quaility, but when it rains, the front area above the front seats fills with rain water. the first time it happend I was working out of state, gone for 4 weeks. the top was ruined.
luckily the warranty covered the damages and they sent another top, but I had to send the bad top to them first, and wait for the new top to arrive, took 2 weeks- my jeep didn't have anytop for that time, had to keep it covered with a tarp.
the new top did the same thing after it rained, luckily I was home when it happend. I found a cheap fix here on Wrangler Forum. the first pic is the top full of rain water, the 2nd is the fix. if you get a Bestop top' I would suggest you get the sailcloth version or plan on doing the cheap fix for $6. with the cheap fix the top is very good, quiet, and looks great.
The 2nd pic isn't my jeep, it's the pic for the repair post.
What year do you have? My '95 has something apparently called "family style" roll bar. The back left and back right roll bars sweep back from the center bar and then drop in next to the tail gate. Earlier models only have a brace-type roll bar, and seem to require a frame regardless of preference.
'95 2.5 w/ 2" body lift, 2" boomerangs on 33"s, all the intake and exhaust mods, and some other stuff in the works.
Softtoper is the way 2 go its made of sailcloth comes with all the hardware an I got mine for $560 shipped with the tinted windows. I love mine and have no complaints mine is a 95 with upper hard doors
It doesn't fold back but u can take the widows out in 2 minutes and u have a safari top the safari top can b taken off in less then a minute and ur topless, it all will roll up together and u can secure it behind the rear seat. I just leave the safari top on.
I don't have any pics I won't b taking the windows out for a while as soon as the 2 feet of snow melts here and drys up I will wash my jeep( its mostly brown due to mud, having tons of fun in the snow) and I will post picks then. If u can see in my pics the top comes down 2 the top of my doors all the way around. I ran a besttop safari top b4 I got the softtoper the bestop safari top does not compare to the softopper its a lot better and doesn't flap around in the back due to the suport bar in the back of the top. Like I said I am very satisfied with it(by the way I'm selling my bestop safari top only used for 1 month)
How does the soft-topper look with the windows out?
I know its been a while but here are pics of my softopper with the windows out. Its even better then my bestop safari top, I drove 60 mph on the highway with 40 mph cross winds and it made no noise what so ever no flapping either I love this top more and more.... I should b getting my bestop soft upper slides 2mro so I will see how well they seal
